Tahiti & Mo’orea Island {French Polynesia}

A few years ago, I fulfilled a life long dream of visiting the island of Tahiti in French Polynesia. It was like nothing I’ve ever experienced before. I was startled by the black sand of the main island…and then startled again to learn that each island has a different color sand. How does that happen?!?! How can one island have black sand while another one has pink or tan or white? I don’t know how that happens, but it was amazing. I spent my time either on the main island of Tahiti or on one of the smaller islands Mo’orea. Clear water stretching out as far as you can see, surfers riding the waves with such passion and commitment, the gentle swaying of the palm trees above, and an overall sense of peacefulness as you settle into your spot on the beach….ah, bliss. One day I will go back to this incredible part of the world, but for now I’ll just have to wistfully look at the pictures.
