On The Road From There To Here

Whew, what a crazy couple of weeks it has been for us! We got our house in Florida all packed up and ready to go and took one last walk along the Banana River. We had a glorious sendoff in the form of the sunset after a storm. It was incredible!

We decided to leave that night and make it at least as far as Jacksonville for the night. We found a dog friendly hotel just outside of Jacksonville where we spent the night. The best part was watching our dog Scout keep looking at the mirror and sniffing it trying to find that other dog that was in the room with us. The next day we got back in the car and made our way north through Georgia and Tennessee until we arrived in Chattanooga where we spent another night in a hotel.

Here’s a weird thing…the last few weeks in Florida everywhere we went to eat wasn’t great. Whether it was new reccommended places or tried and true places, the food just wasn’t great. I told Brad that it felt like Florida was saying to us “Hey, you’ve worn out your welcome. Don’t let the door hit you on the way out.” But then when we made it to Chattanooga we had dinner at Hillbilly Willy’s BBQ and it was excellent. So I think the universe was letting us know through food that our time in Florida was done and Tennessee was welcoming us with open arms.

The next day we made the short drive from Chattanooga to Murfreesboro. I may have become a little emotional driving along the river among the trees- I felt back in my element. We packed all of our things into a super small apartment for the time being. Our new Tennessee travel books are already worn here and there as we have been planning where we want to go and what we want to see. But for now, we made it here to Tennessee and we can’t wait to see what adventures lie in store for us here.
