The Chattanooga Choo-Choo {Tennessee}

We made our way to Chattanooga this last weekend so we could go and see the Chattanooga Choo Choo. This historic building was at one time the main train station of the city and has since become a thriving hotel and entertainment district. This beautifully preserved building was still dressed up in its holiday finery and the charm and character of the building was so lovely. The train cars are parked outside, but they are now used as lodging and restaurants and event centers.

The Chattanooga Choo Choo was the main railroad into Tennessee for a long time. But with the change in times, the old station was doomed to fall to ruin or to be torn down to make way for a new building. But instead of letting such a historic place be forgotten, the city of Chattanooga instead remodeled it into the city’s main entertainment district. This beautiful old building is on the National Register of Historic Places and is considered the city’s first preservation project.

We loved getting to see this beautiful old station and the new life that has been breathed into it. The building is lovely, and the gathering place for people that they have created is so fun and lively. It is easy to see why this has become the premiere place in Chattanooga to stay, to dine, to drink, and to play.
