White Sands National Park {New Mexico}

Whites Sands is a really interesting place not only because of the beautiful white of the gypsum crystal sand, but because it it entirely surrounded by the White Sands Missile Range. Because of that relationship, the national park could be closed if they are testing missiles. This is one of the country’s newer national parks, changed from being a national monument to a national park in December 2019. The drive to the park is along a long straight road through the beautiful Tularosa Basin. The park is not very large, only 275 square miles, but it seems like steeping into a magic land amidst the desert of New Mexico. There are trails to walk, a campground, and they even offer sledding on the dunes. This is such a unique and stunning national park and everyone should visit it when next in the southwest of New Mexico.
