We finally got our Tennessee state park passport book! After a year of seeing as many of the state parks as we could, now we’ll have to go back through and see them again so we can get the official stamp in our book. So we started out our goal with a visit to Radnor Lake State Park.
This state park is right outside Nashville and also serves as an ecosystem preservation area. Because of that they do not allow dogs, picnicking, or trail running. On the other hand, because those things are not allowed you are more likely to see some local wildlife as you walk along the path. We passed right by a few deer with babies tailing behind them as they munched on the side of the trail and we also saw a family of wild turkeys making their way through the undergrowth. We took the trail that circles the lake which was about a 2 1/2 mile loop. This trail is a level walk and the trail is covered in wood chips which makes it easy for anyone who has joint pain of any kind. And the views of the lake and the trees are really lovely. It was a perfect day to be outside enjoying the park and we passed many others who thought so as well. What a great way to restart our plan to see all the state parks here.
