Where We’ve Been & Where We’re Going

April 5, 2022April 5, 2022by grandmisadventures17 Comments on Where We’ve Been & Where We’re Going

I would say that this year has already proved a good one as far as travel is concerned. Just in the last few months we've already visited 5 other states outside of Tennessee. We've saw the Chattahoochee River in Georgia, experienced Mardi Gras and explored the Mobile Bay of Alabama, took a quick detour to [...]

I’d rather be in Munich…

You know that feeling when the big trip you've been anticipating for months gets canceled the day before you were suppose to leave? Yeah, that's where we're at right now. We've been getting ready to leave for Germany to spend this next week in the winter wonders of Munich. But then the news came that [...]

Cheers and Fears on 39

And so today I begin the last year of my 30's! And I'm happy to say that finally the leaves are starting to change and it got cool enough to pull out a sweater. So I would say this day is off to a pretty good start! It's been a little surreal for me today [...]

To Israel…with a sigh of relief

July 8, 2021July 9, 2021by grandmisadventures8 Comments on To Israel…with a sigh of relief

Months ago I announced that I was going to Israel for a study abroad....since then there has been a question of if we would be able to go or not. So we quietly kept providing the documents requested from our professor and preparing as best we could for the amazing opportunity that it would be [...]

One Year In Tennessee

One Year In Tennessee

It's so hard to believe that we've now been in Tennessee for one year. When we moved from Florida up here, the craziness of Covid was in full swing which made the moving process more difficult than we expected. And then we arrived, excited to be in Tennessee, but immediately crestfallen at our apartment that [...]

100 days till Israel…and all the places till then

April 5, 2021May 10, 2021by grandmisadventures5 Comments on 100 days till Israel…and all the places till then

The next few months are already filling up with places to go and things to do. Because it's one of the best times of year to travel before summer comes, we've had a lot of requests to go and visit people and have people come and visit us. Our calendar is filling up and I [...]

Be a Tourist in Your Own State

March 24, 2021by grandmisadventures7 Comments on Be a Tourist in Your Own State

Here's the sad truth...sometimes in our excitement and desire to see the rest of the world, we often overlook or take for granted the incredible place that we are right now. Because we see our city every day we have lost sight of the things and places that make that city so unique. When I [...]

This Summer I am Going to….

March 1, 2021by grandmisadventures2 Comments on This Summer I am Going to….

ISRAEL!!! That's right friends, this summer I have the amazing opportunity to experience the Holy Land. I am beyond excited (and also a little nervous if I'm being honest) about getting to go to Israel. Currently I am working on my masters degree at Middle Tennessee State University and decided to apply for their study [...]

When Flying With An Infant Or A Toddler

February 24, 2021March 17, 2021by grandmisadventures2 Comments on When Flying With An Infant Or A Toddler

I was flying out of Kansas City a few years ago and in front of me in the security line was a woman with a baby in a stroller and two young children. The woman had a carry on suitcase plus 2 large bags on her shoulder with stuff overflowing from it and her arms [...]

Summer in Tennessee is made for exploring the beautiful state parks. Today took us to @timsfordstatepark and it made for a perfect day! Started the day with a visit to @cedarsoflebanonstatepark where we were rewarded with a lovely walk through the trees. Tennessee sure has some beautiful state parks to explore and this is one of our favorites! Did you know there is a Museum of Salt &Pepper Shakers? This collection is incredible to walk through and see all the different shakers. The museum has over 20,000 shakers and has been a labor of love for 35 years. It is an interesting and uncommon tribute to a common household item. When in Gatlinburg be sure to check out this museum! @visitgatlinburg A beautiful day in @greatsmokynps that started with a walk from the Sugarlands Visitor Center and ended up at Cataract Falls. This park has a magic all its own. Ready to face another week after finding my balance here in these beautiful mountains. What a fantastic day at @dollywood with family and friends! We did it all-the rides, the shows, the food-and we left very tired but very happy! Downtown Knoxville with their great Tennessee sign! Visited the Shiloh National Battlefield and National Cemetery. Shiloh was one of the worst conflicts in the American Civil War. Such a humbling and thought provoking look at such a turbulent time in history. We as a country can still feel the effects of the Civil War rippling through the past 150 years. Spent a lovely weekend at a cabin in Natchez Trace State Park. We loved the long wooden bridges stetching across the water! Always love walking through the enchantment of Rock City Gardens. The rock bridges, the slot canyons, the colorful fairy like passages really bring the magical into the day. After months of high anticipation, today we got to experience the incredible Immersive Van Gogh Experience. What beautiful artistry all around with the blend of Gogh's artwork, cinematography, and music to make such an experience. Thank you @vangoghnvl for such a beautiful experience!
