Footloose, Skiing, Ice Castles, & Injury {Utah}

We spent a few days going home to Utah to visit some family. As we flew over the Great Salt Lake, I was filled with that joy that comes from returning home. The light playing off the salt water below was really beautiful. The Great Salt Lake from above It was to be a really [...]

Hey, I'm Meg and I'm so glad you stopped by! Here I hope to share some of the places around the states and around the world that I am discovering. I have found that the best moments traveling happen on accident when I least expect them or when they are nothing like what I imagined them to be...in short when they are a bit of a midadventure. "It's a dangerous business, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don't keep your feet, there's no knowing where you might be swept off to."

{Utah} We got to experience the incredible Midway Ice Castles while we were in Utah. To walk through the passageways of ice and slide down the ice slides puts a little magic in cold winter days. {Utah} On a visit home to see my family we passed the Lehi RollerMills where the classic Footloose movie was filmed back in 1984. Watching Kevin Bacon dance through this mill will forever be one of my favorite movie scenes. {California &Nevada} On a random roadtrip years ago we found ourselves on the beach of Lake Tahoe and then continued on to Lassen Volcanic National Park. Nothing better than going where the road takes you. {Tennessee} Took a walk around the Stones River National Battlefield and Cemetery and saw the Christmas wreaths still honoring those who fought here in the Civil War. Every year @wreathsacross are supported by people across the the country to lay wreaths in all of the national cemeteries. What a moving experience to consider the lives lost here and to see them honored so beautifully. {Quotes} "May your adventures bring you closer together, even as they take you far away from home" {Arkansas} Visiting the Pea Ridge National Military Park gives a look at a lesser known battle of tje American Civil War. This area of Arkansas had gone back and forth between the Union and Confederates. Though outnumbered, the Union ultimately won the battle which cleared the way to win the south. This is the best preserved battlefield of the Civil War. It was a humbling experience to go through the park and consider the high price of preserving the unity of the country. {Missouri} Visited the George Washington Carver National Monument honoring the life of a young man born into slavery and went on to be on of the country's greatest inventors, naturalists, and educators. An amazing example of peace and progress so needed in the world. The greatest drive thru light display at the Vietnamese Christian Monastery in Carthage Missouri. Winding paths surrounded by electro sculpture art depicting biblical scenes alongside animals and symbols and so much more. My favorite part was the light figures of angels moving their arms to direct which way to go. Happy Boxing Day! Loved getting to see the Enchanted Gardens of Lights at the Rock City Gardens. The rock passageways are magical in themselves, but the added lights made it all the more amazing! We got to experience @enchantnashville and were blown away by the incredible maze of lights and the 100 ft Christmas tree at the center. What a fun and festive way to ring in the season!
