We celebrated the end of 2018 with a trip to Universal to check out The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios. I have been to Universal a few times before this, but to see it decked out in holiday glam was an entirely new and incredible experience. I just couldn’t get over the simple festive touches that made such a huge difference.

We wandered through the streets of Diagon Alley and then made our way over to the Hogsmede side enjoying the festivities of the season and drinking as much butterbeer as possible.

We got caught in this mob on our way to see the castle at night. We had no idea what was going on, so we made our way around the crowd looking for a spot to see the castle. What we realized however, was everyone was queuing up for the light show at the castle. We were tucked away from the crowd but still had a great view of the castle so we decided it would be worth it to see it. And WOW! The show is not really long but you see the castle transform again and again with holiday wonder. With music and lights and scenes playing across the castle front, it was truely a sight to behold. The light show is presented every few minutes, so we stayed put so we could see it again.

I would say that the holidays at the Wizarding World are not to be missed! If you go during the holidays, just know that it will be busy and plan accordingly. Be sure to get a park hopper pass as it is the only way to ride the Hogwarts Express from one side of the Wizarding World to the other. And definitely be sure to catch the light show on the castle because it was amazing!
