“A journey, after all, neither begins in the instant we set out, nor ends when we have reached our door step once again. It starts much eariler and is really never over, because the film of memory continues running on inside of us long after we have come to a physical standstill. Indeed, there exists something like a contagion of travel, and the disease is essentially incurable.”
–Ryszard Kapuściński, Travels with Herodotus

Exactly; for many of us, there’s no cure for the travel bug.
-
Absolutely! 🙂

And that is why I sketch, to relive the moments over in the future, nice quote.
-
What a special way of capturing those moments to relive again and again 🙂
-
That’s why I did seminars “Yes! You can Travelsketch!” To encourage more people to try, it is fun.
-
I wish I could draw and paint. Maybe one of these days
-
I am sure you could travelsketch, most of the people who came to the workshops said the same thing, I am not artistic. The goal is capturing moment not creating a masterpiece, and you are quite talented in writing and photos, so I bet you could.

Thank you, I may have to give it a try 🙂

Wonderful quote and I would have to agree. Travel and wanderlust never quite goes away. And I’m quite happy for it to be that way!
-
Me too, its incurable and I wouldn’t have it any other way 🙂
Love it!
-
Thank you! 🙂
And let’s hope they don’t find a cure 😊 Maggie

Absolutely!
That’s a beautiful quote. For me, every journey begins in my mind – we can always take advantage of the time we have today to lead our mind and soul to all those places where we can be one day.
-
That’s how I feel, nothing is more exciting than that beginning process of planning a trip 🙂
-
🥰🥰🥰

That’s a fantastic travel quote – I may pinch it to use myself one day!

Well… quick summary… Polish journalist, photographer, poet and author once shortlisted for the Nobel Prize in Literature. His Wikipedia profile photo is both hilarious and a little scary. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ryszard_Kapuściński#/media/File:Ryszard_Kapuscinski,_author-writer,_at_PEN_Congress.jpg
