Baskins Creek Trail- Smoky Mountain National Park {Tennessee}

After a day of the shops of the Village and the thrills of Anakeesta, we were ready for another hike in the park to finish off the day. This time we ventured to the Baskins Creek Trail for a short, easy hike through the hundreds of rhododendrons plants that line the trail.

What was interesting about this trail was coming across an old cemetery just off the trail. Some of the headstones were within the last couple hundred years. But most of them were just large rocks, picked up off the ground, and used to mark the grave. This little cemetery was lovely tucked away in the trees and yet still cared for. There are remains of old homesteads in the surrounding area so I would imagine that the cemetery was part of that community.

This trail was a simple treasure that I was so glad to have found.
