We spent a rainy morning exploring the wild beauty of Monte Sano State Park. Between the grey clouds, the mist rolling across the trail, and the slight change in the leaves the park took on this very mystical feel to it that was so lovely. The state park makes up a part of the Monte Sano mountain and offers visitors some fantastic views of the surrounding hills. They do ask that you avoid walking on the trails after it rains for fear of erosion. So instead of taking one of the many trails, we made made our way down an old paved road that goes throughout the park. We passed by a giant sink hole that had taken out the barrier wall and part of the road because of erosion. All in all it was a wonderful beginning to the day and definitely recommended for any trip to Huntsville.
