This last Friday, the president of the university that I work at declared a campus wide mental health day for all students and employees. So with an unexpected, and greatly appreciated, day off work I decided to begin the random vacation with a visit to Cedars of Lebanon State Park.

It is not very often these days that it is just Scout and I hitting the trails and it was fantastic. We took the Hidden Springs Trail Loop that is a 5 mile walk through the beautiful trees.

This trail is easy with very few hills and inclines, but it is a solid 5 mile walk so if you want to do the entire loop make sure you are up for it.

Most of the leaves have fallen, but it was still so lovely. The hidden springs are deep below, and you can hear them from above the sinkholes that reach down through the ground.

The trail crosses over the horse trail a few times, so you just want to be sure to follow the trail marker signs so you stay on the loop. Overall though, this trail was the perfect beginning to a random day off with my favorite pup.
